India is likely to see mergers and acquisitions (M&A) worth $50 billion (₹3.1 lakh crore) in 2018, according to apex industry body Assocham. This is based on trends in 2017 when India's M&A transactions jumped 170% in valuations and over 70% in the number of transactions. There were a total of 944 transactions in 2017 worth $46.5 billion.
