India may soon switch to 30% ethanol-blended petrol as govt notifies norms

The Bureau of Indian Standards has notified norms for 22%, 25%, 27% and 30% ethanol-blended petrol, which could signal a potential shift to E30 petrol. The norms specify characteristics of the higher ethanol-blended petrol, like octane levels, sulphur limits, water content and vapour pressure. India is currently in the process of adopting E20 petrol, or fuel blended with 20% ethanol.
