An India-origin diamond merchant, who was allegedly kidnapped in Mali, has been released after his family paid a ransom of €4 million (nearly ₹44 crore). Dhiru Ramani, who was kidnapped in April, had recently acquired a gold mine in Mali, PTI reported. The kidnappers initially demanded around ₹100 crore but his family members negotiated the amount, a source told PTI.
