India selected GE's F414 engine for its Tejas Mk2 and AMCA Mk1 jets over the Eurojet EJ230. The F414 was chosen due to lower cost, an established supply chain, and better alignment with 'Make in India' production goals. While the EJ230 met thrust requirements, GE offered a more economical package and stronger industrial terms.
