India ranks second globally in zero-dose children: Lancet study

India had 1.44 million "zero-dose" children in 2023, second only to Nigeria, says a Lancet study. Eight countries, including India, account for nearly half of the world’s unvaccinated children. Despite India’s free Universal Immunisation Programme, gaps persist. The report urges $3.9 billion in global health aid to address vaccine inequities and improve coverage.
