India has reported 6,987 new COVID-19 cases, 7,091 recoveries, and 162 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There are 76,766 active cases in the country. A total of 422 Omicron cases have been reported in 17 states and Union Territories so far. Notably, India's COVID-19 death toll reached 4,79,682.
