India resumes sugar exports, allows 6 mn tonnes on quota basis till May 31

The government on Saturday allowed the export of six million tonnes of sugar on quota basis till May 31. The ministry has allocated a uniform export quota of 18.23% of the three years average production in operational sugar seasons. The government had restricted sugar exports towards the end of the 2021-22 season (October-September) to ensure sufficient stocks for domestic consumption.
