India's ₹12000 cr traffic fines exceed GDP of some nations: Report

Approximately eight crore traffic challans, with a total fine of ₹12,000 crore were issued in India in 2024, which is more than the GDP of several small nations, a report by Cars24 said. This means nearly every second vehicle on the road has been fined at least once, the report added. However, a significant amount (₹9,000 crore) reportedly remains unpaid.
