India's first successful hand-transplant surgery was conducted in Kerala on Tuesday, at Kochi's Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Manu, a 30-year old man who had lost both his hands in an accident, received implants from Binoy, a 24-year old accident victim who is now brain dead. The 16-hour surgery was headed by Dr. Subramania Iyer.
