India is undertaking its first-ever undersea rail tunnel as part of a 21-kilometre tunnel connecting Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Shilphata. The tunnel will feature twin tracks within a single tube, with 7 kilometres beneath Thane Creek. This is part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train route, spanning 508 kilometres with 12 stations across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
