Bhut Jolokia, popularly known as the ghost chilli, is mainly cultivated in Assam and other northeastern states, including Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. The region's warm, humid climate provides ideal growing conditions for one of the world's hottest chillies. Locally known as Bih Jolokia and Naga Jolokia, it remains an important agricultural and cultural crop.
