India's cotton imports to double amid declining production

India's cotton imports in 2024-2025 are expected to double to 3 million bales due to a decline in production caused by reduced acreage and adverse weather, a leading trade body said. India will import more cotton to meet rising demand, while domestic output is forecast to fall by 10%. This surge in imports could help stabilise global cotton prices.
