India's dolphin ambulance rescues 8 injured dolphins since January

The Dolphin Ambulance project, launched on January 13, 2026 under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, has rescued eight injured dolphins so far, returning them to the river. The ₹1 crore initiative provides rapid care and also seeks to raise public awareness about dolphin conservation and river ecosystem protection.
