India’s first underground-dwelling fish discovered in Assam

A team of international researchers has identified a new species in Assam. Found in a dug-out well - Gitchak nakana, is a blind red loach. It has mastered living in a dark environment using sensitive tentacles to find food and producing giant eggs to give its offspring a head start in the deep.
