India's forex reserves dip by $8 billion in a week

India's foreign exchange reserves fell by $8 billion to $688 billion in the week ended May 15, according to the latest RBI data. Foreign currency assets declined by $6.4 billion to $545 billion, while gold reserves dropped by $1.5 billion to $119 billion. The decline comes amid tensions in West Asia, a weakening rupee and elevated energy prices.
