India's infant mortality rate drops to record low of 25

India's infant mortality rate (IMR) has fallen to a record low of 25, a 37.5% decrease from 40 in 2013, the Sample Registration System 2023 report revealed. IMR, which measures deaths of children under one year per 1,000 live births, has dropped by 80% since 1971, when it was 129. MP, Chhattisgarh, and UP recorded the highest IMR at 37.
