India's utilisation of free trade agreement (FTA) benefits remains low at just 20–30% of eligible exports, compared with 60–70% among its FTA partners, according to the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI). It said high compliance costs and low foreign tariffs discourage Indian exporters from using FTA preferences. India has reached nine FTAs spanning 38 countries since 2021.
