India is the world’s leading movie market based on number of movies produced and tickets sold annually, with over 2 billion cinema admissions in 2015. However, in terms of gross box office revenue, India is ranked sixth with $1.64 billion due to the difference in ticket prices. The US made $10.19 billion last year, making it the top-grossing film market.
