World Bank (WB) President David Malpass on Wednesday praised the Indian government’s support to the poor during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically lauding India's targeted cash transfer programme. Malpass said, "Helped by digital cash transfers, India managed to provide food or cash support to a remarkable 85% of rural households." He urged other nations to adopt similar measures.
