India survived a major scare against Japan to win the historic one-off T20I by two runs in Sano. After a wet outfield reduced the match to five overs/side, Japan restricted India to 32/4. Japan then finished on 30/3, with Axar Patel defending seven runs in the final over. Notably, India are ranked second in T20Is, while Japan are ranked 41st.
