India's technology sector is seeing a hiring slowdown, with active job openings down 24% year-on-year to about 1,03,000 roles in January 2026, a 1% decline from December 2025, according to staffing firm Xpheno. Overall, active tech hiring has fallen nearly 60% from its peak in early 2022, reportedly making January 2026 the second-lowest demand level in the past five years.
