Union IT Secretary S Krishnan said Big Tech companies, which operate platforms like Meta, X, Telegram and WhatsApp, will lose 'safe harbour' status in India if they don't remove child sexual abuse content. Noting that the government has "zero tolerance" for such content, Krishnan said the platforms will also be held liable for such content if they don't act swiftly.
