India to avoid payments system seen as anti-dollar during BRICS: Report

India will push BRICS nations to expand the use of RBI-backed digital currencies for cross-border payments while avoiding a unified payments network that could challenge the US dollar, Bloomberg reported. BRICS members are working to link their payment systems and reduce reliance on SWIFT. India also supports using local currencies for trade settlements instead of a third currency, like dollar.
