India is set to strengthen its maritime capabilities with a ₹40,000 crore project to build eight Next Generation Corvettes for the Indian Navy. These warships will enhance coastal defence, surveillance, and anti-submarine warfare capacity amid growing security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region. The project also promotes indigenous shipbuilding under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
