The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that India is expected to receive "below normal" rainfall this year. IMD said the El Nino, which causes hot and dry weather, will reach its peak strength in July. "There is about a month of lag for it to influence the Indian monsoon...So, August-September rains are likely to be affected," it added.
