India to invest ₹5,000 cr in indigenous aero-engine programme

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced a ₹5,000 crore investment to develop indigenous high-thrust aero-engines, crucial for the AMCA programme. Speaking at HAL's Koraput facility, he witnessed delivery of the 2,000th AL-31FP engine powering Su-30MKI jets. Singh also inaugurated a second Shakti engine production line, raising annual capacity from 80 to 180 units.
