India urges UN: Ships must not be geopolitical targets

India's UN Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni warned at a Security Council meeting that commercial vessels must not become targets of geopolitical tensions. He highlighted India's naval operations escorting 449+ merchant ships worth $8.4bn in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and called for stronger maritime security frameworks under international law.
