Union Minister Piyush Goyal said India will take retaliatory action if European Union (EU) imposes carbon tax on imports of certain goods to the Union. "It will be silly to put tax on friendly countries like India," Goyal added. EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) seeks to impose tariffs on imports of high-carbon goods including steel, cement and aluminium.
