India's Ambassador to Germany Ajit Gupte said the Indian diaspora in Germany has more than tripled in the last eight years, from 97,500 in 2016 to over 3 lakhs now. He added the Indian diaspora in Germany is the second-largest in Europe, after the UK, owing to the Migration and Mobility Partnership agreement signed between the two countries in 2022.
