Indian Grandmaster R Vaishali defeated reigning five-time women's world chess champion Ju Wenjun for the first time ever. Vaishali defeated her in Round 8 of Norway Chess 2025. She clinched the victory in the Armageddon. Vaishali is currently placed fifth with 9.5 points after eight games in the tournament.
