The Defence Ministry has issued an RFI to lease four fixed-wing amphibious aircraft for four years to strengthen the Indian Navy’s surveillance and search-and-rescue capabilities. Operable from water and runways, they will enhance security across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, enabling rapid response without long-term infrastructure or training delays.
