Indian-origin Shivani Raja, a 29-year-old businesswoman of Gujarati descent, took oath in the UK Parliament on the Bhagavad Gita, with a video surfacing online. She won the Leicester East seat for the Conservative party. She was contesting against Indian-origin Labour candidate Rajesh Agrawal. Shivani received over 14,000 votes while Rajesh managed 10,100 in the UK elections.
