Indian-origin Zohran Mamdani has defeated former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the New York City Democratic mayoral contest. Mamdani would be the city's first Muslim and Indian American mayor if elected. Cuomo, who was trying to make a comeback from a sexual harassment scandal, conceded the contest, saying, "Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won."
