Indian Railway crossed 1 billion tonne freight loading in the financial year 2026, with coal remaining the largest contributor at 505 million tonnes. Coal is followed by iron ore (115 million tonnes), cement (92 million tonnes), and container traffic (59 million tonnes). Daily loading stood at around 4.4 million tonnes, higher than 4.2 million tonnes last year.
