Indian Railways reports record safety, accidents drop low

Indian Railways says passenger safety is at an all-time high, with annual consequential train accidents falling from 171 per year in 2004-14 to just 11 in 2025-26. The Ministry credits massive safety investment, technological upgrades like fog devices and interlocking systems, and strengthened security coordination, all contributing to a steep decline in accidents nationwide.
