Indian researcher Balram Marathi has secured patents for his hybrid rice seed innovation in India, US, and Philippines. Sharing his recently acquired patent in Philippines, Balram said, "I hope the invention will be utilised by public/private sector institutions for improving hybrid rice parental lines for high outcrossing." He holds a PhD from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).
