Scientists at the Indian Institute of Science have developed a sustainable hydrogel that can remove over 90% of microplastics from water using UV light. This innovative material combines chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyaniline with copper substitute polyoxometalate nanoclusters. After use, the hydrogel can be recycled to treat heavy metal contamination.
