Indian scientists develop detectors to image volcano interiors
Scientists from NISER Bhubaneswar and HBNI have engineered portable, gas-tight glass particle detectors capable of tracking cosmic-ray muons with over 95% efficiency. These compact Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) map the interior density of massive structures. This innovation paves the way for non-invasive imaging of active volcanoes, hidden tunnels, and priceless ancient monuments.
