A team of Indian scientists has developed a genetically modified (GM) cotton variety which is claimed to compete against the seeds imported from American multinational Monsanto. Scientists claim the home-grown cotton variety is more resistant to pests as compared to Monsanto's Bt cotton. This comes amid Monsanto threatening to pull out of the Indian market.
