Indian student arrivals in US drop 39% year-on-year in August

US arrivals of Indian students on F and M visas fell 39% year-on-year in August to 25,321, the lowest since 2020. The decline follows stricter social media screening, visa delays, a 61% F-1 refusal rate in 2025, and uncertainty over Optional Practical Training rules. Consultants say students are exploring Germany, Singapore, and other alternatives.
