Singapore's Indian-origin Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced on Thursday that he will run for the city-state's Presidential election later this year. Tharman also said that he will step aside from active politics after 22 years. Tharman, who has been serving as Singapore's Senior Minister since May 2019, also previously served as Deputy PM, Finance Minister and Education Minister.
