Sashi Cheliah, a 39-year-old Indian-origin prison officer from Adelaide, has won MasterChef Australia 2018, defeating fellow contestant Ben Borsht and earning a prize money of $250,000. Cheliah got 93 out of 100 points, preparing a sambal prawns starter in the first round which earned him a perfect 30. He made a fish curry in the second to honour his aunt.
