Indian-origin Tharman Shanmugaratnam has won Singapore's presidential race. The 66-year-old former deputy prime minister won with 70.4% of the vote. He will assume charge as Singapore's third Indian-origin president. Singapore is a parliamentary democracy and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is the head of government.
