The Indian diaspora sent home over $135 billion (over ₹11 lakh crore) in the last fiscal year (2024-25), marking the highest remittances on record. Gross inward remittances by overseas Indians, as reflected in private transfers, were 14% higher from the previous year. The remittance inflows have more than doubled in eight years, as compared to $61 billion in 2016-17.
