Vinod Sethi, the former MD of Morgan Stanley, said that Indians still have a "love affair" with hard assets such as gold and real estate. He said that equity comprises about 42% of the financial assets of an average American family, but in India, the ratio is much lower. However, he said Indians' exposure to equities will rise in future.
