Indians were the most abandoned nationality of seafarers in the year ended 2025, the International Transport Workers' Federation has found. With 1,125 cases of abandonment, this was the second consecutive year that India ranked at the top for seafarer abandonment. However, the federation welcomed Indian government's blacklisting measures to protect seafarers from ships with repeated abandonments.
