India's external debt rises 1.2% to $613.1 bn as of December: Govt

The government said the country's external debt rose 1.2% quarter-on-quarter to $613.1 billion as of December. India's external debt-to-GDP ratio, however, remained same as September quarter at 19.1%. The government added that valuation loss in September-December, due to US dollar's depreciation, was $3.8 billion. Earlier, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that India's external debt is manageable.
