India's first airline was used to carry mail

India's first commercial airline, Tata Airlines, was founded by business tycoon and former Tata Group Chairman JRD Tata in 1932, and it was used to carry mail. The company later became India's national airline Air India in 1946. Tata himself piloted the airline's first flight, carrying mail from Karachi to Bombay, 84 years ago on October 15, 1932.
