Independent India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on November 14, 1889, in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad district. He served the country as the PM for 17 years till 1964. Nehru's birth anniversary is celebrated as Children's Day every year across the country, as he was fond of children whom he saw as the future of India.
