India's first President passed away on this day

Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India, passed away on February 28, 1963. Born on December 3, 1884, in Bihar, Prasad is the only Indian President to have held the office twice. He belonged to the Indian National Congress and was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1962 for his contribution to the country’s independence.
